chickaDEE: How does the CBP help Tanzanian writers?
Pilli: The CBP holds workshops that teach writing skills. When we first started training writers, most of them didn't know how to write for children.
ChickaDEE: Does this mean there now more Tanzanian children's books?
Pilli: Yes! We now have many good authors writing for children in Swahili. Some of them have published as many as seven books. The CBP has helped publish more than 250 books altogether.

chickaDEE: Why is it important to publish books in Swahili?
Pilli: African children can relate to the stories and characters in Swahili books. This encourages them to read for pleasure. The more they read, the better they do in school and life.
chickaDEE: Asante sana! (Thank you!)
Pilli: Karibu! (You're welcome!)
